Claudia Nicté Vázquez López

Guatemala Instructor

Claudia Nicté Vázquez López, originally from the beautiful rural village of San Ramón, San Cristóbal Totonicapán, grew up surrounded by mountains, forests, and living traditions that deeply shaped her identity. From a young age, she demonstrated a strong connection to her community and an innate curiosity about the world and the people in it.

Her educational path began with studies in tourism, and she later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Mariano Gálvez University of Guatemala. In 2009, she graduated as a tourist guide from the American School and subsequently obtained official certification as a General Tourism Guide in Guatemala—an accreditation that allows her to lead groups throughout the country. Since then, she has guided travelers across volcanoes, lakes, mountains, cities, and communities, gaining unique experiences as a mountain guide and specialist in cultural and community tourism. She has climbed nine of Guatemala’s 37 volcanoes and has led memorable hikes.

In addition to her work as a guide, Nicté has also been a Spanish teacher for foreigners, sharing not only the language with patience and warmth but also the Guatemalan worldview. She has also like to teach latinos dances, spreading joy and freedom through her vibrant energy. For her, dance—whether salsa, bachata, merengue, or reggaeton—is a form of healing and soul expression. Her love for theater also led her to participate in stage productions during her time in the capital of Guatemala.

Beyond her professional life, Nicté is a wife and the mother of a young boy who represents her greatest motivation. Her family is the driving force that inspires her to improve every day, to keep learning—as she is currently doing with the English language—and to continue growing as both a person and a professional.

In recent years, she has worked with organizations such as Dragons, guiding international students who travel to Guatemala to learn about its culture, people, and history. She has also served as a trip leader abroad, including a program in Peru for adult travelers. In every encounter, Nicté not only leads journeys but also builds bridges between cultures, fosters mutual respect, and proudly celebrates her Guatemalan and Mayan identity.

Above all, Nicté is a woman passionate about connecting with others from the heart. She firmly believes in the power of human relationships, respect, and mutual learning. Her life is a testament to commitment, authenticity, and a profound love for her land.
