Naviya Kafle

Naviya’s journey began amidst the vibrant streets of Kathmandu, Nepal, where her family instilled in her the value of exploration beyond one’s surroundings. In a time when trekking and venturing beyond Kathmandu were reserved for the stout-hearted tourists, Naviya’s family stood out as pioneers. Her initial trekking experiences not only ignited a passion for exploring the diverse landscapes of Nepal but also nurtured a profound curiosity.
Fuelled by this thirst for exploration and inspired by American music, which had captured her teenage heart from thousands of miles away, Naviya embarked on a transformative journey to the United States at the age of 19. Her exposure to American culture, though somewhat familiar through television, presented unexpected challenges, reshaping her perspective in ways she never imagined. Since then, Naviya has become a fervent advocate for travel, exploration, and stepping out of one’s comfort zone.

During her college years, Naviya’s passion for nature and the environment led her to major in Environmental Science, giving her the opportunity to delve into ecology and gain a deeper understanding of global environmental issues. Actively engaged in the Outdoors Club, she honed her wilderness skills, leading excursions along the East Coast and worked at the Dickinson College Farm, fostering her commitment to sustainable living.

Post-graduation, Naviya embarked on diverse career paths, from clinical research in a prominent cancer hospital in New York to becoming an assistant guide for a Kathmandu-based hiking and trekking company. Yet, amidst this diversity, she discovered a common thread that resonated deeply: her passion for food, health, and well-being. This revelation led her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Health as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar in Europe.
Naviya has a fervor for learning and sharing knowledge, particularly pertaining to Nepal, where she finds profound meaning in everyday life. As part of the Dragons team, she aspires to embark on awe-inspiring journeys with participants, unveiling the wonders of Nepal’s landscapes, culture, and people, while fostering a deeper appreciation for education and exploration.
