Benjamin Reitz (乔杰明)

M.A. in Chinese Pedagogy, Ohio State University
B.A. in Classics: Ancient Greek, Oberlin College
Benjamin first became interested in China from watching old-school kung fu flicks when he was in high school. After finishing his undergraduate degree, Benjamin moved to China in 2007 where he studied Chinese in Beijing and then taught English as a foreign language for two years at Shanxi Agricultural University. He went on to teach Chinese language in high schools in Chicago, Baltimore, and near Boston. On a recent trip back to China Benjamin spent his time visiting study abroad programs and researching tea culture in the markets of Beijing. He currently teaches Chinese language at Andover Phillips Academy, where he also coaches squash and lives in a dorm as a house counselor and an academic advisor for freshman boys. Benjamin couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming summer with Where There Be Dragons! He is thrilled to have the chance to lead students on their adventure in China as they work on improving their Chinese language skills and deepening their understanding of Chinese culture.
