I’m Lillian, and I am currently a junior at U Prep High School in Seattle, Washington. I enjoy playing the piano, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and coding. I currently serve as the president of the Washington state board of High School Democrats for America. I recently began an ethics bowl team at my school, and also love participating in mock trial. A few months ago I came back from a month long Dragons trip in China which may have been the best trip of my life. I am ready to start work as an ambassador this year, and am excited for all we can accomplish.

I First Met Dragons…

On June 28th of this past summer. I embarked on my Dragons journey as I boarded a plane to China, where I would learn and grow in the month that followed. Going into the trip, I didn’t realize how much I would learn beyond improving my language. I was amazed by the generosity of my host families, and there was never a moment I wasn’t learning something new from my group of awesome students and instructors.

My Next Big Project Is…

Organizing a local phonebank for high schoolers to make calls to flip the 8th congressional district seat in Washington. I am also working to organize volunteer and internship opportunities for state-wide campaigns for the upcoming midterms. I hope to get as many eligible high schoolers I can registered to vote by November.

A Favorite Book of Mine Is …

Wild, by Cheryl Strayed. I actually read this book as I traveled through rural and urban China on my Dragons trip. I came to love the book even more as I was reading it on an adventure of my own. Strayed and I had both left our lives at home for a month-long excursion, and I was constantly impressed by her honesty and strength. This book circulated among our small group of seven students as we swapped reads throughout the trip.

The Wildest Thing That Has Ever Happened to Me…

Is either the time I ran into a brown bear or stepped in a wasp nest.
