Director's note

This past summer, I found myself on the other side of the looking glass: for seventeen years I had visited families in their living rooms to sell our programs, and finally it was my turn, as my own two children left for their first independent journeys. I thought of them every time I noticed how quiet our house had become. I missed them terribly, but I knew in my heart that I was giving them the greatest gift possible. By putting my children into the hands of capable guides and mentors, I was affording them an opportunity to grow and learn in ways that they couldn’t back home.
Dragons’ programs are unparalleled learning experiences that give young adults enormous insight into their personal characters and their place in the world, and we do that through gritty, meaningful and authentic experiences that require a deep understanding of each community in which we operate. Dragons is more than a professional guiding company or educational institution. Dragons is a community of like-minded people who believe firmly that knowledge of other cultures, self assuredness among youth, and practical skill building and leadership training can foster compassion and nurture lives that are built on wisdom and understanding. The connections, curriculum and resources that we’ve built over the years ensure our participants a learning experience that will deeply broaden their awareness of the world and that will greatly enhance their confidence in themselves.
In reading through our course descriptions, note the exceptional care that goes into each unique itinerary; note the depth of intention that has gone into developing our core curriculum, the care that has gone into developing and implementing our program components, and the qualifications of our exceptional guides.
Our recent programming has been tremendously successful and we have a great deal to build on. To those who have joined us in the past and who have supported the work we have done, a heartfelt thank you. To those of you who will join Dragons for the first time, you have so much to look forward to!
