Director's note

At the bottom of this web-page, there’s a tag-line that begins, “the leader in cross-cultural education…” We stand by this claim, unequivocally. Why?
Over our twenty-year history, Dragons has spent more time in remote areas of developing countries than has any other educational organization. In our locales, Dragons has more field days over a longer period of time with students age 15-22. While pioneering programs in twenty-four countries, throughout Asia, Latin America and Africa, Dragons has achieved a number of “firsts”, including the first officially sanctioned home-stays in China, and the first-ever high school study abroad programs in Tibet, Laos, Vietnam, Mongolia, regions of North India, and Nepal’s hidden kingdoms of Dolpo and Mustang.
But it’s not the number of firsts that sets Dragons as the leader. It’s for the fact that Dragons programs are run through-and-through by professional guides. Every Dragons program is a collaboration with the instructors who run the course. Dragons does not subcontract to outside agencies, such as foreign-based ground-operators. Rather, Dragons sources field-staff who have in-country academic or professional experience and who speak the language. Through a carefully constructed training, assessment and mentorship process, we work with our field-staff to develop extensive leadership skills. We are “the leader” because our guides excel in leadership.
For students who are interested in a genuine and authentic experience, and who are willing to be challenged in pursuit of that experience, you can’t do better. If you have questions and want to hear more on our work history, please call me directly. I would love to hear from you.
